Fourth Body Recovered From Rock River

Boatmen late Saturday afternoon recovered the last body of four Freeport residents who were drowned last Thursday night in the Rock river, two miles south of Indian Village resort near Byron.

The body of John H. Brandt, 40, Freeport fireman, was recovered by two Oregon volunteers. Freeport firemen and volunteers recovered the other three bodies Friday afternoon.

The victims were Brandt's two children, Sharon, 11 and Jimmy, 8, and Edward Kegel, 56, a veteran of 27 years on the Freeport fire department.

The four drowned Thursday night while on a motorboat trip. A fisherman found their overturned boat snagged on a trot line, south of the Indian Village resort.
