Condition of Joseph Kegal Unchanged; Police Hunt "Hit and Run"

Condition of Joseph E. Kegel, 42, manager of the Rockford Cycle Sales garage, who suffered a fractured skull when he was hurled from a motorcycle sidecar Tuesday night, remained critical and unchanged today, Rockford hospital authorities report.

Kegel, who was riding with Motorcycle Patrolman Stuart Mulford, apparently was tossed into the side of the automobile which speeded away after driving in front of the lighter machine at Court and Jefferson streets.

The officer, who started on the call in a motorcycle belonging to Kegel because his own machine was being repaired, is still suffering from shock, although hospital authorities expect his early dismissal.

A search for the "hit and run" driver was being continued by police detectives today, who have several clues which are being developed.

In a drive on poorly-lighted automobiles and traffic signal violators police Wednesday  night handed out more than fifty tickets.
