110th Anniversary Look Back - Day 81

Today for #365daysofkegelhd we share a December 1913 article in the Freeport Daily Bulletin that mentions the time Joe and Julius were honored by the Federation of American Motorcyclist.

MOTORCYCLISTS HONOR TWO FREEPORTERS

Two Freeport boys, Joe and Julius Kegel, have been honored with positions by the Federation of American Motorcyclists, a national organization of motorcycle riders with a membership of 25,000. Julius Kegel receives an appointment on the state board of Illinois, which will have a meeting at Rockford on next Sunday. Besides Kegel the members of the board are Fred W. Sullivan, state commissioner; P.B. Whitney, Chicago; Theodore Jacobson, Rockford; James Rodgers, Harvard; William Erlandson, Rockford.

The purpose of this meeting is to lay plans for a gigantic state convention to be held in the spring.

The elder brother, Joe, receives the appointment of Stephenson county commissioner and will have charge of securing new members for the organization throughout Stephenson county.
