110th Anniversary Look Back - Day 158

For today's #365daysofkegelhd we share of that time we were mentioned in a recently published book!

Almost 2 years ago in July of 2020, T. David Mills set out from his home in Augusta, Georgia on his trusty Road King Annabelle for a 26 day, 10,000 mile trek to California, up along the Oregon coast, and back across the country to Boston before heading home as part of his Biker Bucket List that he started dreaming up in 2003. At the age of 65 he went through 29 states, visited 41 Harley-Davidson dealerships (including us!) and completed 2 of the longest highways in the US (US-50 and US-20).

On day 21 of his trip (Wednesday, July 29, 2020) he reached Rockford and here's what he wrote in his book (page 200):

"Leaving Galena, I was able to experience some little twisties in Illinois on the two-lane section of US 20 and stopped for a couple of scenic views of the valley along there. The sky was full of clouds, but none of them threatening, a few with dark bottoms, but mostly white puffies. Riding along I took in the farmland of Illinois, which looks a lot like the farmland of some of the other states with the usual corn, beans or wheat growing abundantly. That and getting behind another box, of course. Then there was another US 20 detour which I had to take, but fortunately, I was able to get to Rockford, Illinois without much delay. At Kegel Harley-Davidson in Rockford, I was helped with my poker chips by an extremely sweet young lady, Haley, and I was able to successfully capture the photo op outside."

You can read Mills' full 306 page journey in his 2021 book titled "My Epic Ride of 2020: Criss Crossing the Country During Covid-19" which is available at Barnes & Noble and on Amazon!
