Riding Academy Series Part 1: Take the Class

Are you ready?
You have heard the roar of the engine on the road, felt the rumble from a motorcycle next to you at a stop light. You look over and notice the bike. Yeah, it looks pretty cool. Then you see the rider – it could be a man or woman, younger or older, shorter or taller; they are not all the same. But they do usually have one thing in common: a big smile.
The reason? Riding a motorcycle is fun. It is adrenaline-producing fun, life-changing fun. It is exhilarating. It is addictive.
Have you ever thought about being more than someone who wonders what it would be like to ride a motorcycle? If so, we are here to help you on that journey.
The Kegel Harley-Davidson Riding Academy is all about helping people achieve the dream of riding a motorcycle. And what better motorcycle to learn on than a genuine American icon, a Harley-Davidson?
The learning process
Never ridden before? No problem. We will teach you all the skills you need to get your motorcycle license. It all starts with sitting down at your computer – hey, it is 2026! – to take a course that includes a lot of great information for the new or returning rider. Topics include basic operations, safety and rules of the road.
After some refresher time in the classroom at the dealership, it is time to hit the range. This is where you truly begin your journey as a rider. There are 14 exercises designed to build your skills. Turning, braking, swerving – you will learn vital skills that you will use daily on the road.
Our coaches will be with you every step of the way, offering you tips and encouragement as you gain experience on the range. We teach motorcycle safety, but we also have fun! We want people to enjoy the class and make friends and future riding partners while they learn. We are building not just riders, but family.
And that means getting to know our dealership, the oldest family-owned Harley dealership in the world. You will tour all of the departments, meet some great people and get a behind-the-scenes look at some areas most people never see.
Put to the test
At the end, you will put your skills to the test to earn your Motorcycle Safety Foundation endorsement. This evaluation will consist of exercises you have already spent time mastering. From there, we head to the DMV for the final riding evaluation to get your license. And yes, we will be there with you every step of the way.
